Pre-Selected Seating

As FlySafair, we understand the need to sit comfortably amongst your loved ones when flying with us. This is why we give our customers the option to pre-select a seat when making a flight reservation for a small fee. This way you can be sure that you'll be seated where you want to sit on the aircraft.

Customers who don't opt for pre-selected seats during booking will have seats automatically assigned to them during check-in. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that there will be seats available for friends and family to sit next to one another, so we highly recommend pre-selected seating to ensure that you can all travel together.

Pre-flight seat selection is available to you during the booking process on our website at www.flysafair.co.za or you may call our Customer Service Centre at 087 357 0030 to pre-book your seats. These seat bookings need to be done no later than 4 hours before flight departure. Don't forget to book early to avoid disappointment as seats are limited. .

Extra-Leg Room

For a bit of extra comfort during the flight, you can purchase Extra Leg-Room emergency exit seats. These seats are generally situated in the emergency exit rows and offer very generous leg-room and personal space. You can select these seats for R70.

Please note that passengers occupying these seats need to be willing and able to assist in opening the emergency exit doors in the event of an emergency.

Emergency Row or Priority Seats

Emergency Exit Row Seating, or any row directly forward or aft of an emergency exit, for the purpose of safety during an evacuation is restricted to able-bodied passengers over the age of 16 years. For the purposes of clarity, and in accordance with the requirements of the South African Civil Aviation Regulations, the following persons may not occupy an emergency exit row seat:

  • reduced mobility and special needs passengers;
  • pregnant passengers;
  • young persons under the age of 16;
  • adults travelling with infants; and
  • any passenger, based on the cabin crew’s sole discretion and evaluation, not deemed to comply with the definition of an able-bodied passenger.

The seats situated between the cockpit and the over-wing exists are considered to be the front of the aircraft. These row numbers can vary by aircraft type but generally cover rows 3 - 15. There is a seat map on our booking flow that clearly indicates which seats are allocated to each price category and where they are situated.

Blocked Seat

Are you looking for more privacy or additional space on that next business trip or romantic weekend getaway? Well, the Blocked Seat is the solution for you. Keep working comfortably with more space and privacy, or keep your flight romantic and book the entire row. While physical distancing through the use of masks should be a sufficient measure, we've also made the opportunity available to customers to ensure that they can employ a degree of social distancing during their journey. As a policy, we will fill window and aisle seats before allocating passengers to the middle seat, but passengers booking on our website can also select our Blocked Seat option to keep the middle seat in their row open.
