Who Are We?
Company History
FlySafair was started by Safair Operations, which has been a global leader in the aviation sector for over 50 years. We operate a fleet of Lockheed Hercules aircraft that operate specialised aviation missions all over the world from relocating wildlife to performing humanitarian aid food drops into Africa and taking researchers in Antarctica. Since the 80s the company has also had a Boeing division where we’ve performed both cargo and passenger operations on a lease basis. We’ve flown for a number of airlines over the years, including kulula.com, one-time, South African Airlines, Ryanair, Air Mauritius and many others.

Vision & Mission
Our vision is "To be South Africa’s Favourite Airline". We realise that consumers often choose their airline by virtue of practical things like price and schedule convenience, but we firmly believe that just because we are low cost, doesn’t mean that we will offer a low-value service. Our mission is "To unite people with what and who they love, by providing a low-fare, hassle-free, and on-time travel experience".
Current Operations
Presently we operate the largest route network of all Low-Cost Airlines in SA. We hold about a third of the seating capacity amongst the four and operate a fleet of 9 Boeing 737 aircraft. At the end of 2016, we were honoured with ACSA’s Feather Awards for the Best Low-Cost Carrier at every Airport we operate to in 2017. We also hold the best on-time performance record in the world as ranked by OAG.
Route Network
We presently fly between Cape Town, Johannesburg (OR Tambo and Lanseria), George, Port Elizabeth, PE, Durban and East London. Our schedule consists of a basic seasonal frequency and then we flex in additional capacity on popular routes during peak seasons to accommodate the demand.

Services
- Priority boarding (free on standard and GDS fares)
- Pre-selected seating (charged for differently depending on where the passenger elects to sit)
- Journey and Baggage Protection Insurance (on our website and travel agent portal only)
Catering
Catering is available for purchase on all of our flights. Given the shorter duration of our flights, we do not serve hot meals, but a lovely range of sandwiches and snacks are available from our friendly Cabin Crew. We also stock a range of drinks including hot beverages, beers and wine, and a range of sodas and water. Our current menu can be accessed in the back pages of the latest issue of our inflight magazine. You can click here to access a digital copy.
Commissions and Overrides
Our business model is a true-low-cost one. What this means is that we keep our base fares as low as possible and require that every distribution channel carries fares that are marked up appropriately for that channel. What this means is that you will always find the cheapest fare on our own website, while those on the GDS environment will be marked up to cover the GDS distribution costs.
As a result, unfortunately, we do not offer any IT Fares, overrides or commissions but rather kindly request that agents mark-up our fares themselves. Our commitment is to do everything we can on our side to keep those fares as low as possible so that we always have a solution that is affordable and attractive to your clients.
