FlySafair Cheap Flights to Cape Town

Our Luggage Policy

  1. We keep our fares low by excluding the price of a bag so you can travel light and keep your wallet full.  Should you wish to add a 20kg bag to your flight, this can be selected on our Extra’s page during the flight booking process or via our call centre for only R150 per bag. Hand luggage is included in our fares.

  2. A second 20kg bag is subject to a R250 charge booked online or via our call centre.

  3. Bags purchased will have a 20kg limit. Anything over 20kg will attract a heavy bag charge. Bags weighing in excess of 32kg per bag will be transported as cargo at the passenger’s expense and may not be transported on the same flight as the passenger. All arrangements to transport the bag as cargo will have to be made by the passenger.

  4. Checked bags and extra bags can be booked up to four hours prior to flight departure online.

  5. Extra bag:

    • At the airport : R250 per bag payable in cash or by card.

    • Call Centre/Website : R250 per bag payable by card.

  6. Checked bag:

    • At the airport : R250 per bag payable in cash or by card.

    • Call Centre/Website : R150 per bag payable by card.

  7. Hand luggage weighing in excess of 7 kg per bag or which is too large to fit into the overhead stowage compartments will need to be checked in the hold and a checked bag fee would be applicable. Hand luggage maximum size dimensions (56 x 36 x 23cm). Checked-in baggage maximum size dimensions (90 x 75 x 43cm).

  8. Dangerous articles, including flammable goods, poisons, gas cylinders, corrosives, infectious substances, firearms and explosives, should not be carried in your checked items.

  9. Baggage is designed to protect its contents. FlySafair will not accept liability for scratches, cosmetic or minor damage to baggage, nor for any items protruding from bags, such as handles or trolleys.

  10. FlySafair will not accept liability for loss or damage to valuable items such as, but not limited to, cell phones, jewellery, laptops, electronic items, cash, credit cards, documents, sunglasses, spectacles, fragile or perishable items packed in luggage.

 

Valuable and fragile goods:

Passengers should not check-in any such items in baggage. If they are checked-in as baggage, passengers agree that they do this on their own risk. Such items include but are not limited to: money, jewellery, precious metals, silverware, electronic devices, computers, cameras, video equipment, mobile phones, negotiable instruments, securities or other valuables, passports and other identification documents, title deeds, artefacts and manuscripts.

Can I take my sports equipment with me?

With pleasure. Sports equipment will be charged at R280.00 per item per person and is limited to 32kg. Sporting equipment weighing in excess of 32kg will be transported as cargo at the passengers own expense and may not be carried on the same flight with you. May I take my dog, cat, hamster, porcupine, lizard or snake?

Unfortunately we do not transport any live animals.

 

May I travel with a firearm?

No. Firearms of any nature are not allowed anywhere on our aircraft.

 

Dangerous Goods

Your security is always our Number 1 priority when flying aboard a FlySafair flight. To assist in a safe journey, please take a moment to read the attached leaflet which details what goods are allowed on our flights, and which are strictly prohibited.

Whilst you are checking in for your flight, please also take a moment to answer the following questions:-

i. Did you pack your bags yourself?
ii. Have your bags been with you at all times?
iii. Have your bags been under your control at all times?
iv. Are you carrying any item given to you by someone else?
v. Do you have any dangerous goods in your luggage?
